I am very much looking forward to being voted on as a member at the January meeting! Ray and I along with Haydn, our 7 year old Weim, had a blast at the August picnic. We also enjoyed catching up with members of the Yankee Weim club at the Cape Cod Kennel Club Show in September. We were pleased to host Linda Caplan, Karma and Moe for an overnight on their visit to the Cape for the show.

Hello, I just wanted to give you a long overdue update. We adopted a weim from you by the name of Luka in 2001.You were quite nervous about him because he had an aggression problem when people got excited and were quite hesitant to adopt him out. I just wanted to let you know that he was a wonderful dog. His aggression was based purley on his sense of needing to take care of and protect our family. He chose me to be his primary person and was at my side and my constant companion for the last seven years. Whether in the house, barn or fields, he always knew where I was. He was my gaurdian angel and best friend. His protection included my entire family and he made sure he was in attendance if anyone left the house. He managed every person and animal in our home with care and precision. When to wake up, when to go to sleep, someone needs out, someone needs in, cats are hungry, water needs changed, someone is in the driveway etc. He vocalized and communicated continously. I won't say that his enthusiasm for his job didn't get him in trouble now and again. He was quite frightening when we wern't home. There is nothing like a weimee snarl in the window to make people hesitate. He made sure ther was no fighting between cats or dogs and would step in between the if he felt the situation was out of hand. Sadly, that same instict to manage and protect caused his death. One of our boys came home from the military and had our dogs out of the yard with him. We own a farm so this normally isn't a problem. However, our puppy got away from him and ran across the road. Luca when to follow and bring him back and was hit by a car. I just wanted to let you know that even the weims that seem difficult can become wonderful and to thank you for letting us adopt him. We had 7 precious years with him and we miss him terribly. Thank you, Mary
